Forget skirmish, forget the campaign - my brief online war with some of the developers from Mad Doc drove home one thing: multiplayer will be at the heart of Empire Earth II. As I found out when I actually got to play multiplayer, though, I was wrong. After playing the early versions of the campaign and trying different skirmish variations, I thought I had a pretty good handle on what Empire Earth was going to be like in multiplayer. Doing so would allow me to get down to the nuts and bolts of the strategic "feel" of the game. In my report I discussed my decision to eschew multiplayer for the time being in order to focus on the single-player and skirmish modes. Empire Earth II, of course, is the upcoming sequel to the brilliant (though hardcore) RTS from Sierra and Stainless Steel Studios. A few days ago, I talked about my initial experiences with Mad Doc Software's Empire Earth II.
